The Shires Hanging Cheek Sweet Iron Snaffle With Copper Lozenge features a double jointed mouthpiece with a rounded central lozenge which sits at the centre of the tongue and distributes pressure evenly. The lozenge is made from copper, a warm metal which encourages the horse to salivate and accept the bit. The sweet iron is designed to oxidise in the mouth to produce a sweet taste to promote acceptance of the bit and help with mouthing. This mouthpiece offers a kind and mild action.
The hanging cheeks fit with the smaller ring attaching to the bridle cheekpiece and can help to keep the bit more stable inside the horse's mouth, helping to encourage the horse to go forwards into an outline.
