The Shires Blue Sweet Iron Hanging Cheek With Lozenge features a mouthpiece made from a combination of blue sweet iron and brass alloy; sweet iron oxidises easily in the mouth to produce a sweet taste, encouraging the horse to salivate and accept the bit. The lozenge distributes pressure evenly across the tongue and bars of the mouth, giving a mild action. This mouthpiece is fairly thin and will be comfortable for horses with smaller mouths or larger tongues.
The hanging cheeks fit with the smaller ring attaching to the bridle cheekpiece and can help to keep the bit more stable inside the horse's mouth, helping to encourage the horse to go forwards into an outline.
