The Shires Blue Sweet Iron Flat Eggbutt Snaffle With Lozenge is a warm, palatable bit with a mild action. The double jointed lozenge mouthpiece distributes pressure across the tongue and bars without interfering with the palate which is comfortable for the horse and encourages contact. Blue sweet iron oxidises easily in the mouth, creating warmth and a sweet taste to encourage salivation and bit acceptance. This bit is useful for horses which show aversion to other bits, such as stainless steel, and can encourage mouthing in younger horses.
Fixed Eggbutt rings prevent the lips and corners of the mouth from being pinched. They also stabilise the bit inside the horse's mouth which can encourage a green or inconsistent horse to seek the contact forwards. The bit rings are smaller on the smaller bits to remain in proportion with the horse's face.
