The reduction in poll pressure usually combats over-bending, whilst the tongue bridge arches over the tongue, profiling under the upper palate. The combination of the mild Slimma mouthpiece and Swales cheek is excellent for use on a horse that fully understands the aids; it's only recommended for riders with an independent seat and sympathetic hands.
